Brief Description

The Dave Scott Active Workshop is a unique opportunity for triathletes to learn how to improve their swim and run technique and gain a competitive mental advantage directly from “The Man”, Dave Scott. This 4 hour workshop includes hands on instruction in the pool, on the track and in the classroom with a legend of the sport who will share his experience as a 6x Ironman World Champion and coach of professional triathletes including the current Ironman World Champion, Chrissie Wellington.

Part 1: The Swim

The first 90 minutes of this workshop takes place in the pool at the Hanley Center for Athletic Excellence at Georgetown Prep. Beginning with a short video presentation on the pool deck followed by time in the pool, Dave will review the specific body mechanics of an efficient swim stroke including head position, finger entry, arm extension, timing of the catch and more. Dave will review timing, breathing and finishing techniques as well as three drills to reinforce what was learned.

Part 2: The Run

The next 60-75 minutes will be devoted to honing your running form including proper body alignment for all body types and fitness levels, how to shift your body weight upon landing, understanding stride length vs. stride frequency, how to “think” when running and more. This segment of the workshop will take place in the Fieldhouse within the Hanley Center for Athletic Excellence at Georgetown Prep.

Part 3: The Mental Edge

The last 60 minutes of the workshop will cover mental strategies that will help you get more out of your training and improve your performance when racing. This segment will also include Dave’s 10 Principles for Racing Effectively and take place within the Hanley Center for Athletic Excellence at Georgetown Prep.
