Brief Description

Thinking about doing a triathlon? The author of "Fearless Swimming for Triathletes" will give beginners a gentle introduction to the swim portion of the sport. Interested students will learn some basic stroke mechanics and everyone will learn, what to expect on race day, equipment, crucial open water skills and 12 week training plan for a sprint distance triathlon. This class was previously known as the pool based-open water course.

Do I have to be able to swim to take this class?

Yes, but you don't have to be very good at it. We will group participants according to ability so no matter where your skill level is, you will receive some help with your swimming.

What about Open Water Swimming?

Athletes that want instruction that takes place in open water should take the Open Water Course for Triathletes which is offered nearly every month starting in March. There will be no instruction about stroke mechanics at the Open Water Course.

Who should take this class?

This class is for everyday people that are interested in trying a triathlon within the next 6-12 months, especially those that do not feel confident about the swim portion of the race.

Additional Information

This class will point you in the right direction so you know how to get started in the sport. The swim instruction will get you started on with swimming, but will not be as comprehensive as the 2-day Freestyle Improvement Workshop.
