Brief Description

This clinic will provide everything you need to know to do a sprint triathlon race, including techniques for open water swimming and transitions, USAT rules and regulations, and tips on how to pace your energy to finish your triathlon race. You will then practice what you have learned in a Sprint Triathlon, consisting of a 500 yd swim, 10 mile bike, and 2 mile run.

Anyone wanting to learn more about how to do a sprint triathlon. Great opportunity for novice triathletes to "TRI-IT-OUT" and a great opportunity for those with some experience to fine tune their triathlon racing skills. Must be able to swim, bike, and run. Must be 13 years or older to particpate.

Racing Clinic Details

Learn and practice open water swimming techniques, such as sighting buoys and pack swimming, transition techinques from the swim to bike and bike to run, USAT rules and regulations for triathlon racing, and how to pace your energy to finish a sprint triathlon!

Practice Sprint Triathlon

Following the clinic, participants will have the opportunity to practice what they have learned in a non-competitive sprint triathlon.

The Swim

~500 yds swim open-water simulated in a pool. Swim ~5 loops of a triangular course.

The Bike

10 miles - 5 loops of a 2 mile course on neighborhood roads. Roads will be open to traffic.

The Run

2 miles - 2 loops of a 1 mile course on sidewalks/paths/and grass.

What to Bring

Photo ID, CA membership card (if member), USAT membership card (or purchase $10 single-day membership), swimming suit or tri-suit, goggles, hair ties for long hair, towels, bike in good working order, bike helmet, shorts and top to bike and run, shoes to bike and run, hat or visor, sunscreen, and a water bottle filled with water. Swim caps will be provided.

Post event refreshments and give-a-ways after the Sprint Triathlon! This event is brought to you by USAT certified triathlon coach, Liz Flynn, of BeMore Coaching and Events in cooperation with the Columbia Association.

Inclement Weather Policy

This event will be held rain or shine. In case of extreme weather conditions, such as thunderstorms or unsafe swimming conditions as determined by the event organizers and/or other officials, the event will be modified or cancelled. No Refunds.

Costs

CA member: $50.00; non-CA member: $65.00; Non-USAT members must purchase a $10.00 USAT one day membership. Father's Day Special: $10 discount for Father-daughters and Father-sons that register together.
