Brief Description

Triathlon skills camp for MECTC collegiate triathletes interested in developing & improving their swim, bike, run, & transition skills with a specific focus on draft-legal racing. Skills applicable for the beginner to the seasoned collegiate triathlete, however you should be comfortable swimming 200m and riding in a pack. This is an active camp.

Where

The Ohio State University Recreational and Physical Activity Center (RPAC) and McCorkel swim pavilion. Housing accommodations can be made with OSU triathlon club for out of town athletes.

Who

Collegiate triathletes, all abilities welcome but you should be able to swim 200m, be comfortable riding in a pack, and have a road bike with drop handle bars.

Extras

Snacks will be provided. Bring cash for meals. We will do group orders in to keep camp moving. Individual VO2 max testing w/ skin fold body composition is available Friday and Monday for an additional $100.

What to bring

Swim cap, Goggles, Swimsuit, 2 towels, Road bike w/ drop handlebars (no aero bars), Helmet, Cycling shoes, Cycling clothing (2), spare tubes, pump/CO2, Tire change tools, Bike lock, Running Clothes, Running Shoes, Watch, Hat, Sun glasses, Warm Clothes, Sleeping bag & pillow, USAT License & Photo ID (if you can’t prove current license status, then $12 event license will be required)

Additional Information

You must have a road bike with drop handlebars. Some of the topics we will cover and practice include: dive starts, swim video analysis, bike handling & group riding, flying mounts/dismounts, run drills, basic maintenance, VO2 max & training structure, nutrition, draft-legal racing and Olympic pipeline.

Sanctioning

USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States. Participation in a USAT sanctioned event means the event director has the proper permits in place, liability and athlete excess medical insurance coverage and the event plan has met the standard of organization required. USA Triathlon provides rules, guidance and governance to set the standard for safe and fair multi-sport races.
