What's Included

Most of us use apps on a daily basis to talk with friends, form groups, check email and track our daily exercise. Apps allow designers and engineers to take an idea and turn it into a tangible product that is accessible to millions of people. Most massively scalable apps have a very similar structure; understanding this common structure is the key to creating well-designed apps. In this course, students will have the opportunity to develop a web application that can be used on an Android or iOS phone. Students will learn to provision a virtual machine (VM), and design and build a functioning app using Javascript, HTML and MongoDB.

About This Organizer

The Engineering Student Outreach Office (ESOO), created in Fall 2009, manages and administers the core outreach programs offered by the Faculty. We act as the central unit for outreach activities promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education to a wide audience. We design and deliver programs centrally, and coordinate the activities by other entities including student organizations, Faculty members, and Departments. The vast majority of outreach activities supported by ESOO are pre-university programming.

The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering is committed to inspiring youth within the community and across the world through outreach programming that focuses on engineering and applied sciences. These programs range from summer live-in programs to weekend courses during the fall and spring terms.

Below is a listing of our current program offerings. Click on the links to find out more about each program.
