Junior Cadet Club (JCC) is a non-profit organization (charitable status pending) establishing itself to educate and develop Toronto youth in the areas of sport and fitness, healthy lifestyle choices, community engagement and responsible citizenship. Through team building and mentorship-based programs, children and youth between the ages of 8 and 14 living in the Trinity Spadina (Ward 20) area of Toronto by participating in 5 on 5 soccer clubs training and tournaments.
JCC will operate in the Trinity Spadina (Ward 20) area, this area was chosen as it addresses an urgent need for a child and youth soccer program in a neighbourhood where there are no clubs available and children and parents in the area have requested and are eager to join a soccer club close to home.
Through the Junior Cadet Club program, children and youth are encouraged to pursue their goals and passions with confidence, lead healthy and responsible lives.
Junior Cadet Club, after running an evening multi-level program last year, found that many children travel many miles to play soccer in a team environment. Once speaking to parents and researching the Trinity Spadina (Ward 20) area, found there were no clubs or academies running soccer clubs for youth and with parent and youth support are moving on being the first soccer club in the area.
We expect this to be a success and hope to hold our meet nights in the Bathurst and Queens Quay field area as many of the children are in this immediate area and are of low to mid income families.
Our volunteers will take on the task of coaching and Junior Cadet Club is raising funds in order to have them trained and certified. Every JCC volunteer must complete a VSS and be cleared. Our volunteers and youth will be in a safe environment at all times.
Junior Cadet Club is based on implementing programs for youth upon finding a need for them. We also encourage community volunteering at the grass roots and civic levels. We have run a free summer camp at no cost and consistently assist Royal Canadian Legion in their Poppy drive and Ceremonies. We also assist a Navy League Cadet Corps any way we are able. Our future includes adding many more opportunities to assist in the community as we grow.
