Parents and guardians are welcome to stay and learn with their child. Our activities are guided by the seasons and weather conditions. Some areas of focus will likely include: - Hiking to some of the wonderful natural spaces of High Park - Playing nature games - Learning about the many living things in the park - Planting native plants (spring and fall) - Removing invasive species in partnership with Toronto Urban Forestry (spring and fall) - Nature photography - Using maps and compasses for orienteering - Making projects for the Bowling Field such as brush piles or solitary bee nesting tubes - Snowshoeing (winter) For each session, parents receive extensive learning guides that include: - An overview of the weekly theme - Pre-visit or post-visit activities to extend learning at home - Suggested resources (books, websites, video links, etc) - New vocabulary - A preview of the upcoming sharing circle question “I love that it’s a program offered within the city, where it’s easily accessible. Also, a program that is structured in a way that gets children out and involved, creating more awareness and appreciation for nature.” – Parent testimonial
