What's Included

A collaboration between U of T's Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers and the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, ENGage highlights black role models, encourages STEM literacy and promotes academic and social growth. Participants will engage in exciting design projects and challenging science experiments, gaining an appreciation of a diverse array of academic and career options. Areas of inquiry include biology, chemistry, physics and various sub-disciplines of applied science, including electrical, chemical and civil engineering. Students will take part in leadership development training geared towards preparing participants to become more involved in school, community and extracurricular activities. ENGage will also offer opportunities for students to participate in sports and games in a supportive, non-competitive environment.

About This Organizer

The Engineering Student Outreach Office (ESOO), created in Fall 2009, manages and administers the core outreach programs offered by the Faculty. We act as the central unit for outreach activities promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education to a wide audience. We design and deliver programs centrally, and coordinate the activities by other entities including student organizations, Faculty members, and Departments. The vast majority of outreach activities supported by ESOO are pre-university programming.

The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering is committed to inspiring youth within the community and across the world through outreach programming that focuses on engineering and applied sciences. These programs range from summer live-in programs to weekend courses during the fall and spring terms.
