2009 USTA Tennis Teachers Conference

*August 29 - September 1, 2009
*Grand Hyatt Hotel, New York, NY
*Coincides with opening ceremonies of US Open

Now in its 39th year of success, the USTA Tennis Teachers Conference is the premier resource for teaching professionals, organizers and coaches. Offering the opportunity to connect with colleagues from around the U.S. and the world, attendees are treated to a special situation to learn face-to-face from international and U.S. coaches on the latest tennis techniques and innovations.

This year’s conference encourages coaches to establish a platform for players to develop and grow in both skill and experience. The program covers all levels of play and development – youth, adult, senior, beginner, intermediate or advanced. At each level, teachers learn how they can set the stage for fun, growth and ultimately, success.

“The conference has the ability to draw together the best coaches in the world,” said USTA Jr. Team Tennis National Manager Marikate Murren. “It’s a unique environment to share and demonstrate the latest in on-court drills and conditioning, new concepts in sport psychology, or even the latest technology in video analysis.”

Coaches and organizers can also improve on their tennis delivery by learning the latest tactics and techniques. The latest trends in technology and social networking will also be examined to aid in broadening your reach to new prospective customers through sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Coinciding with the opening days of the US Open, the 2009 Tennis Teachers Conference offers on-court classes and demonstrations at both the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and the Grand Hyatt New York. Attendees are also invited to attend several exciting venues that coincide with the start of the US Open.

Sunday Afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center

On Sunday, August 30, attendees will travel to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for two morning and three afternoon on-court sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to attend exciting on-court sessions from Mary Joe Fernandez, Jose Higueras, Whitney Kraft and others.

Opening Night at the US Open

The Monday night Opening Night Ceremony for the 2009 US Open will celebrate athletes who give back, featuring two-time US Open singles champion Andre Agassi and other notable athletes.

Opening Night Ceremonies have become a tradition at the US Open and have been held annually since 2002. Prior ceremonies include tributes to Arthur Ashe, Althea Gibson and Billie Jean King. In addition to the top names in tennis, Opening Night ceremonies have also featured top entertainers and performers including Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Queen Latifah, Diana Ross and Tony Bennett.
