Race the Runway 5k

About This Activity

Race the Runway 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

This is Tallahassee';s first road race on the runway! We have designed the entire 1 mile and 5K courses to take place on the newly extended runway 18-36 and taxiways at Tallahassee Regional Airport! This course is FLAT and FAST and ready for a PR (personal record)! It is stroller and wheelchair friendly. There is plenty of room for a large crowd! Walkers are welcome in both races, and will be asked to stay to the right of the course to allow for runners to PR at this event!

The focus of this unique and exciting event is to raise money for Honor Flight Tallahassee. Honor Flight is a national organization that exists for one reason: to take every WWII veteran, who is capable of going and has not seen it, to see their monument in Washington DC at no cost to the veteran! Honor Flight Tallahassee has over 75 WWII veterans making this special trip in May! This inaugural trip takes place on May 11th. All proceeds from our race will go towards airfare, buses, meals, wheel chairs, oxygen and additional support for this trip.

To add to the excitement, the Leon County EMS 4th Annual Family Safety Fair will be taking place at the same time and location on race day! Their activities will include their safety car seat inspections, bike helmet give-aways, bike rodeo, Leon Lifesaver robotic ambulance, demos and more!

Location: on the new runway behind Flightline';s offices at Compass Pointe. Take the General Aviation entrance off of Capital Circle SW, just northwest of the main terminal entrance at Tallahassee Regional Airport, and parking will be on your right.
