Additional Information
The swim will begin and end on a small sandy beach. Water temperature should be 68 to 70 degrees. The swimmers will swim straight out towards the north end of the lake and loop around 3 buoy markers. They will then travel the west side of the lake to the south end looping around the island, continue back up the east side to finish at the starting point. All participants must wear the provided swim cap; there will be no exceptions.
There are 2 categories for suits, Category 1 and Category 2.
a. Category 1 suits can only be made from textile materials. For men, the swimsuit shall not extend
above the naval nor below the knees. For women, the swimsuit shall not cover the neck, extend past
the shoulder nor extend below the knees.
b. Category 2 suits include all other swimwear (e.g. wetsuits, previously legal technical suits, like Blue70’s or Lazers, rash guards and arm bands.)
Category 2 wetsuits will render the participant ineligible for awards.
Awards will be given to the overall female and male winners and to the first three places in all age groups. The 500m swim will be a straight out and back swim from our sandy beach. The course will be patrolled by lifeguards from Redwood Coast Lifesaving Association. All pre-registered competitors will receive a commemorative t-shirt. T-shirts will also be on sale race day.
