Description
This is an open water swim in San Francisco Bay for registered Masters and USA Age Group swimmers. It is a fundraising event (2nd Annual) to benefit a new swim team program for inner city youth, based at the restored Richmond Municipal Natatorium (Plunge). The swim is held at Keller Beach, Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline, walking distance from the Plunge and the Point Richmond Historic District. The event includes 1/2, 1 and 2-mile distances, wetsuit and non-wetsuit divisions, run concurrently in a triangular course with multi-wave starts. The swims begin and end on a sandy beach, and give swimmers an opportunity to experience a unique and largely unknown part of San Francisco Bay. Typical water temperatures in September are 60 to 64 degrees. Lifeguard and water safety provided by East Bay Regional Park District.
