Additional Information

Check-in will run from 7a.m.- 9 a.m. Announcements and a safety demo to follow. Splash-off will be at 9:30 a.m.

This year we will not be able to accommodate walk-ups on the day of the swim.

Please also note our policy for kids under 18. We will ask that all minors sign a waiver; that all minors have a parent or guardian sign a waiver; that all swimmers aged 13 – 17 present a certification of ability signed by a coach or athletic director; and that all swimmers aged 10 – 12 present a certification of ability signed by a coach or athletic director AND come to the swim with an adult swimmer escort. (If two repeat swimmers wish to use a single escort, they may be allowed to do so at the discretion of the registrar.) We cannot register any swimmers under the age of 10.

Why are we swimming across the Hudson River? Well for the fun of it—it is a challenging and wonderful experience. But more importantly, this great River with its storied history was off limits to swimmers for many years. However, because of the Clean water Act and the efforts of Pete Seeger and many others since the early 1970’s, fresh results are now in. Many parts of the river are now safe to swim in. We are working to raise money to operate the River Pool, a floating swimming pool in Beacon, NY. The prototype wading pool has been built and will be put in the river in June, 2008. Once testing for the pool is complete, it will be open to the public. So, start training. It is a one mile crossing. We'll swim one hour before the slack before flood. Pass the word on--we are planning for a larger group this year--and begin to talk to people who might want to sponsor your efforts. Your contribution and that of your sponsors will make a difference.

Rain date To Be Announced. Please continue to check www.riverpool.org for additional information about the swim and about the river pool.
