Brief Description

Bobs 1K was started 3 years ago as the Settlers cove 1K by the Ketchikan Killer Whale swim club. The 1K event was started in conjunction with the Pennock Island Challenge and was taken over by Ketchikan Masters swimming in 2006 and sanctioned in 2007 as a masters open water event. The swim was renamed Bobs 1K after 'Bob' swam it as his first open water event. The swim features a beach start and a triangle course with a beach finish.

Race check in will start at 10:00 a.m. The race will officially start at 11:00 a.m. Race divisions will be the usual masters divisions and a seperate wetsuit catagory. The course will be a triangle course with each leg of approximately equil distance. The turns will be marked with bouys and balloons. Water temperature is expected to be in the upper 50s cooling slightly at the mouth of lunch creek.
