About This Activity

The Gears and Steers Ride for Hospice is ideally situated in the heart of the Triad. This beautiful ride from Summerfield Farms takes you on country roads where the pavement is nice and the hills are rolling. The Gears and Steers Ride for Hospice has 25- and 62-mile (metric century) options. Each distance is fully supported with mechanics and well stocked aid stations. Both distances start at 10:30AM. The post-ride party starts at 12:00 PM and goes until 3:00PM.

100% of the registration fee goes directly to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro and we encourage riders to raise additonal funds on their own. The top fundraiser will recieve a gift card from the Trek Store in Greensboro.

Start/finish: Summerfield Farms, 3203 Pleasant Ridge Rd. Summerfield, NC 27358      

Registration Fee: $30.00 pre-registered & $45.00 day of event (100% of the registration fee goes to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro)

Route Options: 25 miles and 62 miles (metric century)

Age Minimum: Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

 Fundraising: Riders have the opportunity to fundraise on their own for Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro—online donations or checks payable to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro.

The Gears and Steers Ride for Hospice has 25- and 62-mile (metric century) options. Each distance is fully supported with mechanics and well stocked aid stations. Both distances start at 10:30AM. The post-ride party starts at 12:00 PM and goes until 3:00PM.

All cyclists get the following: well-supported and well-stocked aid stations on the route and access to the post-ride celebration which includes water & soda, 1 beer (after the ride—21 & over), and music. There will be a limited number of lunches, beer and T-shirts available for purchase for riders who miss the order deadline or who sign-up on event day—first come, first serve…. Healing Hands Chiropractic will be on site providing complementary Active Release Therapy (ART) and we will have complementary post-ride massage.

Event Site Rules:

The Gears and Steers Ride for Hospice rules

  • ·         This event is a supported ride, not a race
  • ·         Obey all traffic laws, stop signs, etc.
  • ·         All cyclists must wear a helmet
  • ·         All riders must sign a liability waiver on site
  • ·         No headphones while you ride
  • ·         Be courteous to drivers (remember we are guests in the community)
  • ·         Ride to the right and in single file as much as possible
  • ·         No ID, No beer
  • ·         Please, no behavior you wouldn't want your mom to see or hear
  • ·         HAVE FUN! 

Ride Schedule:

8:30 AM to 10:00 AM day-of registration & rider check-in (all riders must sign event waiver & pick-up rider bib #) at Summerfield Farms

10:30 AM start for both routes

12:00 PM to 3:00 PM lunch, music, beer & prize drawing
