A bicycling Fun Ride to benefit

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

In memory of Hein Hvatum, who lived for 25 years with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Because every year of life is precious.


Start: Park at Visitors Center Missouri Side of Chain of Rocks Bridge (I-270 Exit 34 to Riverview Drive N)


End: Fast Eddies Bon-Air in Alton, IL (Must be 21 or older to enter restaurant)

Distance: A bit under 18 miles Bring your own bike!!! All riders must wear a helmet!


Start: 9:00 am Fast Eddies opens up at 11 am no matter how soon you get there, so no rush!


Return any time from 12 noon to 3 pm: We will drive you and your bike in one of our vans, right from Fast Eddies parking lot all the way back to the visitors parking lot on the Missouri side of the Chain of Rocks bridge.


Route: Sign in at Chain of Rocks bridge parking lot. From Chain of Rocks parking lot on Missouri side, we will ride over the Chain of Rocks Bridge to Chouteau Island, then over Chouteau Island Bridge. Take a left onto IL.Rte3. Ride 2 miles on shoulder to New Poag Road where you will cross Rte3 to bike path that goes past Lewis & Clark historic site along the scenic IL side of the Mississippi River. Continue on bike path along river until you reach Alton, IL. All turns will be marked with GEARS4YEARS and arrows. In Alton ride past McDonalds (which opens early, for those who get to Alton before Fast Eddies opens) then right on E. 4th street, and about 1 more mile to Fast Eddies. Park in Fast Eddies Motorcycle parking, where a volunteer will watch your bike while you are in Fast Eddies enjoying their fabulous 29 peel n eat shrimp, their $2.99 Big Elmo on a Stick or their $1.99 Fast Eddie Burger.
