About This Activity

SCOR continues donating to Camp Bon Coeur, Camp del Corazon and Camp Taylor, three children’s congenital heart disease summer camps designed to give children between the ages of 8 and 17 a medically supervised camping experience that they would not normally have available to them due to the severity of their illness and multiple heart surgeries.     Day-of-Event Registration will be available on Friday evening March 7th and Saturday morning March 8th If we have not reached our 3000 rider limit by then. Follow us on Facebook to keep updated on the status of our registration numbers.

    SOUVENIR ORDERS

    SOUVENIR orders will be accepted by mail until February 21, 2014 for pick-up at the event. Souvenirs will be available on a first come, first served basis at the event. Orders will be taken for items we run out of on ride day.

    TRANSFER POLICY

    If something changes in your schedule at the last minute and prevents your attendance, we will issue a voucher that may be redeemed and used to enter the 2015 Solvang Century, Metric & Half Century without financial consequence. You must notify us of your inability to attend by no later than 03/05/2014 to receive a voucher. Any souvenirs ordered from this year will be mailed to you in the week following the ride.

    Any rider who has a PRO-BIKE FIT ($150) with Randy Ice, P.T., C.C.S. will have his/her entry fee waived. Randy has 28 years of fitting experience and will make you more comfortable on your bike as well as relieve any pain syndromes you may be suffering from. The cost of a PROBIKEFIT is $195.     CYCLING FESTIVAL AND LUNCH

    Located in the rear parking lot of the Hotel Corque, there will be over 30 vendors including KHS Bicycles (Bicycle Mechanics available) and Jax Bicycles, a live DJ for your musical entertainment, massage therapists, cold draft beer provided by a local brewery and a BBQ Half Chicken Meal cooked by the Hotel Corque staff as they have done in the past 12 years. Lunch tickets will also be available at the Festival site for friends, family members or guests. Cost is $15 each.

    RAFFLE

    Prizes will be raffled off and announced after the ride starting at 3:00 PM. Winners must be present to win. Be sure to place raffle stubs in the Raffle Drum located in the Event Merchandise booth before the beginning of the ride.

    CHRIS CARMICHAEL TRAINING CAMPS

    Carmichael Training Systems will again be offering participants of either the Solvang Prelude or Solvang Century an exclusive $250 discount to our March 3 – 7 training camp, concluding and including the Solvang Century on March 8th.     SAFETY

    Helmets are mandatory. You do not have to show helmets at registration. SCOR will have helmets available for purchase at the registration area. It is recommended each rider bring (2) water bottles, a tube, patch kit, tire levers, pump, a spare tire and warm clothing in layers that can be shed as the day warms up and carried with you. Bring rain gear if need be.

    THIS IS NOT A RACE!

    PLEASE BE COURTEOUS OF LOCAL DRIVERS AND TRAFFIC. PLEASE OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS! The CHP and Sheriff’s Dept. will again be on course to direct traffic at key intersections. Be sure to come to a complete stop at all traffic signals and stop signs not controlled by law enforcement personnel. RIDE SINGLE FILE PLEASE!!

    NOTE

    Riders who violate vehicle code laws, ride unsafely, are discourteous, rude or dangerous to other riders (or law enforcement personnel) will not be allowed to enter future SCOR events and will receive tickets for vehicle code violations.

    PACELINES

    If you ride in a paceline, please announce “on your left” when passing other riders. Please understand that you assume all liabilities and risks for riding in a paceline. Please pass riders with at least two feet of clearance between you and the rider you pass on the right.

    NOTE

    No personal support vehicles please!! Trikke bikes are prohibited.Headphones, Walkmans and iPods are forbidden by law! Please DO NOT urinate in public!! Use the Port-A-Potties we provide at SAG stops!!

    The 50 mile route is rated Four Star
    The Metric Century is rated Four Star
    The 100 mile route is rated Five Star

    EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY

    Rider photos will be available within 72 hours after the ride.Please affix your BIB NUMBER to the front of your chest so as to make it easy for you to find your photograph(s), AND make for easy scanning of the bar code on your BIB NUMBER to enter the VAFB. Please do not place the BIB NUMBER on your back!

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

    Volunteers are needed to work Friday evening and in a variety of places Saturday (registration, SAG stops, finish line). Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and BBQ lunch for helping out. Call (562) 690-9693 to sign up as a volunteer or for additional ride information.

    ACCOMMODATIONS

    The Hotel Corque is the official host hotel. SCOR has a number of "Platinum Hotel Corque Room Packages" available. SCOR also has a limited supply of private in-home rooms available to rent. We keep a log of local homeowners who for a fee, will rent out an extra bedroom or two for the weekend. Call the SCOR office at (562) 690-9693 for either the Platinum Package info or to obtain in-home room contacts.
