What's Included

The Interfaith Coalition of Washington County, MD invites you to an all-day retreat on peacemaking in the context of Interfaith dialogue. Led by Dr. John Abd al-Qadir Davies this retreat draws on experience and research in peacemaking over 30 years using methods and insights from Sufism and other spiritual traditions, highlighting examples from Indonesia, Lebanon and Lesotho, and from working locally with individuals, families, and communities. Dr. Davies co-directs the peacebuilding program at the University of Maryland’s Center for International Development and Conflict Management, co-leads the Masters in Peacemaking at the University’s School of Spiritual Healing and Sufism, teaches at the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, and directs the Living Peace program at the Farm of Peace (Sufi Center East). Cost is $38.00 for the day which includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Early registration close January 30th. ($42.00 to register after this date.) Space is limited. Scholarships available. About This Organizer

Shepherd’s Spring Outdoor Ministry and Retreat Center is a beautiful 220-acre retreat setting of rolling, wooded land along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal and the Potomac River, just three miles from Antietam National Battlefield near Sharpsburg, MD and about 1.5 hours from Washington, DC. Its mission is as an outdoor ministry, education, conference, and retreat center, provides opportunities for spiritual renewal and growth, stewardship of God’s creation, and the experience of community, for all ages. It is fulfilled through year-round programing featuring summer camps for children and youth, programmed as well as unstructured retreats for individuals, religious and educational groups, non-profit and business organizations as well as governmental entities and other outdoor experiences as advantaged by its location to so many area attractions and historic sites
