Karen was a swim instructor at SPCC Aquatics, accomplished at teaching students of all ages and ability levels. Karen was gifted at teaching those with special needs because of her kind and patient nature. During her years at SPCC, she taught many children how to be safe and enjoy the water. Sadly Karen passed away in November 2009 after a yearlong battle with cancer. The proceeds from the triathlon go toward funding swim lessons for underprivileged children.

8 & under = Swim - 150 Yards; Bike - 1 mile; Run ? ? mile
9 ? 10 = Swim - 200 Yards; Bike - 2 miles; Run ? 3/4 mile
11 ? 12 = Swim - 300 Yards; Bike - 3 miles; Run ? 1 mile
13 ? 14 = Swim - 400 Yards; Bike - 4 miles; Run ? 1 ? miles

? Swim: In the heated indoor pool. Lap counters will not be provided but you can bring your own. There will be changing rooms available.
? Bike: Along the B&A bike trail beginning at Cypress Creek Rd next to Severna Park Community Center, heading SOUTH towards Annapolis and return back to Cypress Creek Rd.
? Run: Along the B&A bike Trail beginning at Cypress Creek Rd next to Severna Park Community Center, heading NORTH towards Baltimore, to Robinson Road return to the intersection of Cypress Creek Rd.
New this year ? JR. Tri-it! This new course is designed for first time triathlete. (8 years old and under). Participants will begin the triathlon with a swim in the SPCC heated therapy pool(4 lengths) followed by a ? mile bike ride before finishing the race with a ? mile run. The course will be held on the Severna Park community grounds. The JR TRI-IT is an opportunity for younger participants to develop their triathlon skills.
THe JR TRI-IT will begin at 830am. p>
Relays consist of 2 or 3 people. Each leg needs to becompleted by the person who started the leg. There canbe 1 person for 1 leg and another for 2 or a total of 3people each doing 1 leg. Each person needs to completea separate registration form to participate.
We encourage everyone to enjoy their experience of a recreational triathlon. The swim, run, and transition times (the time between each leg of the event) will be posted. Times will not be posted for the bike ?ride? because no one is permitted to exceed the speed limit of 15 mph. No participant will be advantaged or disadvantaged by the bike ?ride?. There will be designated pathways roped off to direct you to the next leg of the triathlon. Please stay in the path for your safety and obey all B&A Trail regulation including the 15 mph speed limit; failure to do so will result in disqualification.p>
