You are invited to take part in the kickoff meeting of the Puget Sound Regional Maritime Transportation Disaster Recovery Exercise Program. This phase of the project will enable members of the Puget Sound maritime transportation community (led by the Ports of Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle, and Everett) to advance their capabilities to reinstate their respective operations quickly after a major earthquake. This effort centers on the design, conduct, and evaluation of a regional exercise engaging ports in USCG Sector Puget Sound, their customers/operators, surrounding communities, and regional stakeholders to examine the larger regional interdependencies associated with the recovery of the maritime transportation system. After the project kickoff meeting concludes, an optional Business Continuity Seminar will be offered from 2 PM to 5 PM. The Business Continuity seminar is intended to provide planners with information on the latest trends and best practices in continuity planning. This seminar is designed to provide an overview of Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and provide some guidance and resources for business owners and operators interested in beginning a BCP process. We will present a basic introduction to BCP and an examination of nationally and internationally accepted practices to initiate, develop, and maintain a BCP process.
