What's Included

You'll be able to create a line of jewelry working with a variety of materials with a professional jeweler. You’ll be metal smithing in silver and copper and you can incorporate leather, resin, and beads into your designs.  Your personal style will emerge as you make earrings, pendants, chains, bracelets, and other wearable objects. You can try your hand at more advanced techniques like riveting, using patina, and etching.  You’ll learn skills to make jewelry at home with just a few simple hand tools. Instructor: Jennifer Bennett

About This Organizer

Coyote Central challenges young adolescents to build competence and creativity through hands-on workshops with professionals in creative fields. Since its founding in 1986, Coyote has engaged over 13,000 youth in a wide range of programs mentored by professionals in creative fields. Independent problem-solving at Coyote builds adolescents’ confidence and expands their sense of personal possibility, not only in the studio but also out in the community. Through Hit the Streets, at-risk youth work with professional artists to design and build major public art for their neighborhoods. Through CoyoteWorks, immigrant youth and those at-risk for violence learn culinary or woodworking skills and perform public service. Through CityWorks, youth make public art through commissions from local businesses and organizations like Seattle Center, Starbucks, Pacific Place or King County Metro. Coyote youth are empowered to go beyond their middle-school experience and discover that they too can make a difference.
