FULL DAY CAMP: Intro to Coding Camp in the morning and Beginner Mobile Game Development Camp in the afternoon. Coding Camp follows a progressive computer science curriculum that teaches kids how to code using Scratch, an event-driven visual drag & drop programming language developed by MIT Media Lab. Kids will learn fundamental computer programming concepts, techniques and best practices while learning to code interactive computer programs and games based upon the TechSmartKids Coders methodology. This camp is intended for students that are new to the TechSmartKids program and is a pre-requisite for TechSmartKids more advanced Coding Classes. Students learn to design and code mobile game Apps using Stencyl, a complete game development platform that features a powerful (“Scratch-like”) drag-and-drop and authoring environment. This camp focuses on four primary areas: • Computer Science • Visual and line-based coding • Game design with the Stencyl game development platform • Mobile App development By the end of this camp students will have successfully designed and developed a fully-featured game that they can play on a tablet or smart phone.
