Features a kayak tour on Richardson Bay! This incredible journey will focus on ocean ecology, understanding human impacts on the ocean, and using your newfound knowledge to create strategies for change. Interact with the abiotic and biotic factors that make the Bay and Pacific Ocean confluence so unique. Feed sea stars in our Marine Lab, study harbor seal behavior at Point Bonita, and explore intertidal communities. Compare marine and lagoon plankton samples to learn more about these specialized habitats. Work with the national organization 5 Gyres to study the impact of plastics in our oceans. Midweek, you’ll take a kayak out on Richardson Bay and explore the impacts of communities near the water’s edge. On Friday take all that you have learned and share it with family and friends in a scientific symposium.
