*Includes one overnight campout Have you ever wondered how our ancestors survived in the wild? This week will dispel the mystery as you learn basic skills all cultures have used for time eternal. Matthew Brummett, a primitive skills expert from DirtTime Wilderness Adventures, will teach you how to make cordage, containers, cutting edges and fire using primitive techniques. You will have the opportunity to make your own hand drill, tinder bundle, gourd canteen with netting, string and rope, while also learning safety with sharp tools. You will learn about camouflage, foraging for food, signaling for help, and how to make your own survival shelter, which you can sleep in during a Wednesday overnight in the Sangre de Christo Mountains (tents are also an option!). Of course, no week of Mountain Kids would be complete without some of your favorite sneaking and hiding games, exploration and adventure. This action and learning packed week is sure to fire up and build the confidence of any budding outdoors kid!
