Open Water Swim and Transition Clinics


Swim: Overcome your fear of open water swimming and fine tune your skills for upcoming races this season. Swim clinic includes an orientation to open water swimming, gear, sighting, exit and entry to the water. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and swim in a safe environment. After orientation pariticipants will swim 750 - 1000 yards in the ocean at Cowell Beach in Santa Cruz.



Transition Clinic on July 20:


The clinic on July 20 will also include transition skills. Get hints and tips on maximizing your transition skills. You will have an opportunity to rack your bike and practice going from swim to bike and bike to run.


The transition portion of the clinic will be held at Depot Park, the actual transition area for the Tri Santa Cruz races. It is recommended that you park in Depot Park, leave your bike and run gear in your vechicle, and walk down to the beach. After the swim clinic we will return to Depot Park where you will find bike racks set up for practicing transition skills.

Get hints and tips on maximizing your transition skills. You will have an opportunity to rack your bike and practice going from swim to bike and bike to run.


In addition to your swim gear and wetsuits plan on bringing your bike and run gear as well.

Event schedule and times

Clinic will start at 8:00 am on the beach in front of the Dream Inn at Cowell Beach, adjacent to the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf.
