The Rocky Ridge trail, located at an undeveloped park situated along the spectacular Big Sur Coast at Garrapata State Park affords far reaching views of the Santa Lucia and Santa Cruz Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. The hike encompasses a 1600-foot elevation gain to Rocky Ridge along Sorberanes Canyon Trail, following the creek through the redwoods. The return hike is via the Rocky Ridge trail along steep pasture lands, classic Big Sur cattle country. Although this is a difficult hike involving steep trails, the rewards are incredible. On the return we will stop along the coast and explore. This is a great time of the year for viewing the coastal wildlife. You will need sturdy shoes warm layered clothing, water, and lunch.
