Dear Cycling Enthusiasts and Supporters,
On behalf of the Foundation for the Children of the Californias (FCC) and the Hospital Infantil de las Californias, we cordially invite you to participate in the “Salsa Ride at the Border” to be held on June 12, 2016.
The festive ride begins and ends at the “San Diego Outlets at the Border” in San Ysidro and offers a scenic passage through Otay Lakes, Chula Vista and the Eastlake area. Riders choose from either a metric century or metric half-century route and all levels of riders are welcome to participate.
Frederic Fournier (Canada Consul serving San Diego), Remedios Gomez Arnau (Mexico Consul General serving San Diego), and William Ostick (US Consul General serving Tijuana) will be riding or cheering in support of participants.
The FCC is a tri-national collaboration with Canada, the United States and Mexico, endeavoring to improve the health and nutrition for the children of the San Diego and Baja California-mega region through the operation of Hospital Infantil de las Californias. This pediatric specialty medical and education complex is located adjacent to the border (one half mile into Baja California, Mexico). No child is turned away for an inability to pay. To date more than 12,000 surgeries, 450,000 consultations and 310,000 hours of health education have been provided utilizing over 385,000 volunteer hours. Funds raised at this event will be used for Hospital Infantil’s ophthalmology efforts to prevent blindness and vision disorders in children.
