The second annual Marin County Swim takes place Saturday morning, July 19, 2014 at McNear's Beach in San Rafael.
New this year will be the Splash & Dash, which consists of a Sprint swim and 5k run, all within the park.
Produced by the Sustainable Sports Foundation, organizers of the Marin County Triathlon Weekend and the Marin County Half Marathon, 10k & 5k, now in its sixth year of successful environmental and family friendly events.
The Sustainable Sports Foundation funds a special program which gives children from low-income families in our community the opportunity to learn to swim and be safe in the water, and all proceeds from this race go to this program.
Not only will you be supporting this effort at our event through your participation, but you will also be witnessing and swimming alongside some of our proud home-grown athletes !!
Besides the Splash and Dash race, the Marin County Swim features two race distances: a Sprint which is 500 meters, and an Olympic consisting of 1500 meters.
Both distances begin and finish at the beach wall located across from the swimming pool area at McNear's Beach Park, 201 Cantera Way, San Rafael.
These open-water swims in San Pablo Bay will be an in-water start (no running or diving in) and will finish at the big red arch, just along the carpeted exit area.
All races are open to everyone 12 years and older with no maximum age limit!
Anyone under 18 will need consent from a parent or legal guardian including a signed liability waiver, like everyone else, which is found when registering for the event.
Wetsuits are highly encouraged.
All participants will receive a technical race t-shirt, stainless steel water bottle, lots of goodies in their race packet, great foods and drinks, live entertainment, a very cool one of a kind finisher medal .... and one heck of a good time !!!
