Take a virtual road trip across our wonderful 50 states while learning about American culture through geography, history, reading, and writing! Each week will be devoted to a particular region (Northeast, Southwest, Pacific, etc.) in which students will learn an abundance of geographical and historical information as well as some fun facts which make each region unique (i.e. Which state has more animals than people? Which state boasts the largest swamp in the world? Which state has the largest amount of gold stored anywhere in the world? Which state is the first to see the sunrise?). Discover these answers and other interesting facts as you travel across the USA! Other topics that will be explored in class are historical figures, tourist attractions, map features, climate, state capitals, natural resources, and time zones. At the end of the summer session, students will have produced SIX informative and illustrated travel books as souvenirs of their trip!
