About This Activity

EVENT REGISTRATION IS ONLY AVAILABLE AT WWW.SANDIEGOTRIATHLONCLASSIC.COM

The 2013 San Diego Triathlon Classic will take place on Saturday, September 7th. The San Diego Triathlon Classic has become San Diegos favorite and most challenging Olympic-distance race, featuring: a 1,500 meter protected flat-water swim; a hilly, 40 kilometer bike course; and a flat, ten kilometer run. Additionally, this years race will also include a Sprint-distance course, with a 750 meter swim, a 20 kilometer bike course, and a five kilometer run.

During this event, participants will have the opportunity to swim in the NTC Boat Channel, a flat and protected portion of the beautiful San Diego Bay. Following the swim, participants will ride their bikes from Liberty Station through the Naval Submarine Base at Point Loma to the Cabrillo National Monument, where breathtaking views of Mexico, downtown San Diego, and the rugged mountains of the east await. This rare opportunity for participants to ride through Naval Base Point Loma, situated on the San Diego Bay across the water from the city center, is unique to the San Diego Triathlon Classic. Upon returning to the newly-created NTC Park at the conclusion of the bike portion of the event, participants will run through the trails in the park and the sidewalks of Liberty Station, a historic and culturally vibrant area of San Diego.

The San Diego Triathlon Classic boasts the most spectator-friendly race course and transition area in all of Southern California. A unique, multi-loop course allows spectators, family, and friends to see race participants multiple times throughout the event, as well as at the finish line. The transition area for the race is set on the 18-acre grass parkland of the NTC Park, adjacent to both the Marriot Hotel and the Homewood Suites Hotel. In addition to beautiful views of the downtown skyline and the San Diego Bay, there are many restaurants, shops, hotels, museums, and art galleries within walking distance of the race start/finish line. The NTC Park also features a childrens playground, public restroom facilities, and ample parking locations. The central location and multiple access points for Liberty Station make traveling to and from the race simple and stress-free.
