Finish Chelsea's Run is a 5K run/walk (and new this year, a Short & Sweet route option for those not up for the full 3.1 miles - see below for more information) followed by a family festival, children's activities, refreshments & entertainment.
New this year! Chelsea’s Light Foundation is pleased to announce a partnership for this fourth annual event with Girl Scouts of San Diego and the event will be a fundraiser for both organizations. A significant portion of the race proceeds will continue to benefit Chelsea’s Light Foundation's Sunflower Scholarship Fund, a scholarship program helping San Diego youth realize their academic and community enrichment goals. It is the mission of Chelsea's Light Foundation to unite people who are passionate about protecting our children and inspiring positive change in their community.
SHORT & SWEET ROUTE
Not up for going the full 5K (3.1-mile) distance? No problem! We have a “Short & Sweet Route” just for you! Register for the 5K (be sure to select the untimed option) and on race day, start the 5K at 7:30 a.m. At the intersection of Balboa Drive and Laurel (and before heading over the bridge toward the east side of Balboa Park) follow the signs directing you back to the festival area. This alternative course is approximately 1 mile.
You have the option of doing the 5K "JUST FOR FUN" or “TIMED.” If you select “TIMED” you will receive a timing tag for an official race time. If you're not interested in receiving an official time and want to run or walk just for fun, please choose "JUST FOR FUN". Note: All participants will be able to see a digital clock at the finish line displaying the elapsed race time. If you'll be taking the Short & Sweet route, sign up for the "JUST FOR FUN" option.
As they say, the more the merrier! So, in the spirit of friendly competition, awards will be presented to the largest school, community, law enforcement and military teams. In addition to that, if you have at least 50 registered team members, you’ll be provided a complimentary team tent to use as your meeting location at the event. Show your spirit and hang a banner from your tent making it easy for your teammates to find you on race day.
Awards will be presented to the top 3 male and female finishers in age divisions: 12 & under, 13-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80 +. To qualify you must select "TIMED" when registering.
Live outside of San Diego or have something else planned on race day? That's okay, you can still be a part of this great event and support the cause by registering as a Virtual Participant. The Virtual Participant registration fee includes an event shirt that will be mailed in advance. This will allow all virtual participants to wear their event shirt on race day and celebrate in their own speical way!Event schedule and times
