What's Included

Year 2 Institute

Developing A Personal Leadership Vision In the second year of study with GYLI, participants travel to a unique region of the country to explore the “personal geography” of leadership–a person’s individual vision and unique direction. Casting off modern technology, students and faculty experience human community in the context of multiple religious traditions with an emphasis on the Native American world-view that arose from the original residents of New Mexico. While living at the Lama Foundation–which is 90% solar powered–participants explore ways to balance the “triple bottom line” of the 21st Century: people, planet, and purpose. The relationship to self, others and the earth is highlighted in the Year 2 institute as participants work to overcome personal challenges such as a mountain hike and a 5-hour solo experience. Essential questions of Year 2: “What internal visions guide my emerging purpose and my leadership?” “What is my relationship to my self?”
