Brief Description

For over 15 years, the Oyster Bay Sailing Foundation and JSA of LIS have sponsored the Advanced Racing Clinic, one of the most prestigious sailing clinics in the country. Again this year, in conjunction with Stamford Yacht Club, this two day clinic will be offered to advanced racing sailors. The program consists of conditioning, interactive discussions designed to maximize boat speed and improve your knowledge of tactics and rules, and on-the-water drills to analyze and critique technique.

For the Advanced Laser and Radial Sailor

Coaching the Laser/Radial clinic will be Andrew Scrivan, head Laser coach at Stamford Yacht Club, who has coached since 1998, training individuals and groups for area, national and Olympic events, and Rob Crane, member of the US Sailing Team AlphaGraphics, who is campaigning for the 2012 Olympics .

For the Advanced C420 Sailors

Returning to lead the Club 420 clinic will be Steve Keen, the outstanding coach from New Zealand, who is head C420 coach at LISOT and has coached 49 sailors to world championships since 1993. He will be assisted by Katy Nastro, member of the 2010 & 2011 All-New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association Women's teams.

Additional Information

The clinic size is limited to maintain an excellent coach-to-boat ratio, so sign up now. You'll be asked to provide info about your sailing background if your skipper's name is not on the Law Trophy Regatta qualifier list. Applicants must be at least 14 years old by December 31 of this year to participate. You will be notified of acceptance the week before the clinic. Note: - Be sure to bring, water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, PFD, notebook and pencil. - Lunch will be provided on water. - Housing will be provided for certain sailors. Please indicate if you would be willing to house 2 out-of-town sailors, if necessary. - Specific agenda will be set by instructors on days of clinic, but each day should run up to about 4pm. - This is a bring-your-own-boat event; details for boat storage at Stamford YC will be provided a few days before the clinic.
