Be a part of the first Half Marathon in Franklin County and the First Nautical Mile Fun Run! The Half Marathon will start at 7:00 am with a four hour time limit. The Nautical Mile Fun Run starts at 9:00 am and will start at the Stockyard on Hwy 243 and finish at the Russellville Municipal Airport (transport to start will be provided).
This FIRST EVER event in Franklin County is to honor to the men and women of all the Armed Services in coordination with Armed Forces Day. A full-scale patriotic festival will include music, food, military personnel and special military guests throughout the morning. Military service men and women and their spouses may register for a half-price rate of $20. Students up to full-time in college receive the $20 discounted rate also. The Half Marathon will start and end at the Russellville Municipal Airport on Hwy 243 and covers paved country roads on rolling hills with two short portions of packed gravel. The GLORY HILL will be quite an accomplishment early in the race and will include a celebration at the top for each runner! The remaining course rolls through the country overlooking the airport runway and is a beautiful early summer view! Half Marathon finishers will all receive a finisher medal. Trophies will be awarded to the Overall Male, Overall Female, Over Male Master, Overall Female Master and age groups of the top three 1-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-99 (separate male and female). No strollers, pets, or any non-registered participants are allowed on the course. Headphones are discouraged due to the possibility of minimal vehicular traffic moving around or through the course at times. The Half Marathon will have plenty of course support with multiple water stops, course volunteers and medical personnel. All participants are required to finish the course in no longer than four hours. If at any point course personnel believe a participant is in any medical difficulty and at risk if continuing the race, or will not finish the course in the limited time, the participant will be picked up and transported to the finish line. The Nautical Mile Fun Run is a first of it's kind. A nautical mile is just over a common mile - an additional 796 feet to be exact. All finishers of the Nautical Mile Fun Run will receive a special dog tag finish medal! The top three finishers age 12 and under, male and female, receive trophies. The Fun Run is great for families, strollers, runners, and walkers. Children four years old and younger participate FREE! Families of three or more get a discounted rate of $40.
