The course is out-and back along the historic Delaware Canal State Park towpath trail from Yardley north through New Hope Pennsylvania, returning to Yardley.
Built in 1832, the tow path is narrow in some sections, requiring single file travel. The towpath has several mule bridge underpasses with low clearance. There are 24 bridge underpasses along the course, for a total of 48 underpassings. Tall people will feel the need to duck.
Field will be limited to 500 participants In order to reduce crowding on the Delaware Canal State Park towpath, The Bucks County Marathon will employ a wave start. Small groups based on seed times will be released over a ten minute period. Please be honest with your seed times. Incorrect times make travel on along the Canal towpath more difficult for everyone involved.
The Bucks County Marathon starts and finishes at SEPTA’s Yardley Station of the West Trenton regional Rail line. The first and last .3 miles are on paved surface The course is out-and back along the historic Delaware Canal State Park towpath trail from Yardley north through New Hope Pennsylvania, returning to Yardley. The course will be certified and sanctiond by USATF before the race.
We will impose a six and one half hour time limit on the course. Aid stations will be closed at a 6.5 hour pace plus the time last starter crossed the starting line. The turn around will be disassembled at 12:25PM.
Course certification and sanction means qualifying performances will meet BAA standards

The race will be timed using ChronoTrack “B” chips, and there will be checkpoints and text updates available along the course. There will be signs at each mile mark. Due to the waive start, we respectfully suggest that you wear a watch
There will be six station locations, with ( ClifBlok , EaglesPeak Water, Replacement Drink To Be Named and a portable toilet facility) for a total of 11 opportunities along the course Woodside Crossing (2.2 & 24 miles), Washington Crossing Park at 532( 5 & 21.2 miles), River Road at Stoney Run Aqueduct ( 7+ & 19+ miles), The Thompson - Neeley House ( 9+ & <17 miles), near Odette’s in New Hope ( 11+ & 15+ miles), and near the Turn Around
Awards top three Men and Women and in these Age Groups: Under 20, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70 & Older You will receive a finisher’s medal if you earn one
The Start Finish Line is at the Yardley train station on SEPTA’s West Trenton Line. There are (2) morning trains arriving from Philadelphia before the start of the race. Yardley Pennsylvania is Located just off I-95 Exit-49 While there are very few hotel accommodations near the course, there are a great number of Bed-and-Breakfasts. Please consider staying at one, and book your rooms early as space is limited.

The Yardley Train Station has parking for 250 cars (including an ambulance and some race vehicles), please consider carpooling or Septa trains

Your family and friends can drive to several locations along the course to spectate and cheer you on. There are areas of the course we will ask them to not travel to, as the locations have limited space. More information will be published in advance of the race.
