Brief Description

USATF Certified half marathon (USATF-05061-PH), as well as a fun and challenging out and back 5K course. Two River Taxi Boats transport runners to the race start as well as Trolley buses. Buses depart from in front of the Hilton or from the Municipal Parking deck on 2nd Street near Chestnut Street. The TRYSPORTS Expo/Packet Pickup is Saturday afternoon, November 5th AT THE COASTLINE CONVENTION CENTER. The race is Walker Friendly with a dedicated 7:00 am walker start.

USS Maffitt

The USS Maffitt as well as a 2nd boat will provide River Taxi service to the race starting at 6:00 AM on Race Day. The boats leave from the dock in back of the Hilton Hotel. Only race participants with a race number will be allowed to take race transportation until after 8:00 am.

Parking on Race Day

Park free Sunday in metered spots or the Municipal Parking Deck located on 2nd Street (north of Market Street) between Princess Street and Chestnut Street. If you park in any private lots or decks ANYTIME without paying, you will be ticketed without mercy. If a private deck doesn't have a place to pay then it's not for public use - look for the tiny little signs warning you not to park in that lot. If you park in a private lot, they will tow you for sure.

Bus Service on Race Day

Buses leave from in front of the Hilton Hotel race day starting at 6:00 am. Buses also leave from in front of the Municipal Parking deck on 2nd Street near Chestnut Street starting at 6:00 am. You can park in the Municipal deck for free on Sunday, catch the bus over to the Battleship from there, and not have to deal with any hassle on Front Street if you so desire.

Bag Storage on Race Day

Bags can be stored in the Auditorium at the Battleship on race day. Go up the ramp to the right of the main entrance and enter the Auditorium through the single door. Tables will be stacked to provide lots of places to stow your bag. Leave dry clothes etc for after the race. No Valuables Please.

Strollers, Bicycles, Racing Chairs

We're sorry but no strollers, bicycles or Racing Chairs are allowed in the race. The course is not suited to wheeled vehicles and we are thinking of your safety, the safety of any children in wheeled strollers or racing chairs, and the safety of our runners.

Half Marathon Age Limit

Age Limit for the Half Marathon is 13 years old. Please do not register children younger than 13.

Trysports Race Expo/packet pickup - LOCATION

Trysports Battleship Race Expo will be in the Coastline Conference Center 100 meters north of the Hilton Hotel on Nutt Street - notice the locomotive on display. www.nccoastalevents.com We'll have a large area with lots of great vendors and things to see and do while you pickup your race packet between 12:30 and 6:30 pm on Saturday before the race.

The 13th Annual Carolina Sports Medicine Battleship NC Half Marathon is a beautiful and challenging (for the beach area) Half Marathon that starts and finishes at the Battleship North Carolina. The Port Land Grille Battleship 5K is an out and back with a little bite going over one bridge. Local runners volunteer for, support, and make this race possible Each racer in both the Half Marathon and 5K gets a free ticket to tour the Battleship North Carolina. Chronotag Chip Timing with Brunswick Timing. RACE DAY Registration at the Battleship in the auditorium to the right of the Memorial's main entrance, if the race is not closed out. Half Marathon 1st Place M/F Open, Masters and Grand Masters winners receive gift certificates courtesy of Omega Sports. Age group M/F winners recieve nice awards going 3-deep or more in 5-year age groups. 5K Awards are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in Open and Masters categories. Age group awards are 3-deep in 5 year age groups. The Half Marathon course crosses two bridges over the Cape Fear River, goes through historic downtown Wilmington, tours beautiful Greenfield Lake, and returns to the Battleship via the Memorial Bridge. Entries will be limited to 1,750 runners this year. The Bay Six Battleship 5K is a fun and challenging out and back that crosses the Cape Fear River bridge, takes a U-turn and re-crosses the bridge and returns to the Battleship. It finishes with a flat half-mile stretch. The TRYSPORTS Expo/Packet pickup is Saturday, November 5th from 12:30 PM until 6:30 PM at the Coastline Convention Center one block north of the Hilton Hotel on Water Street. Race Day packet pickup is at the Battleship between 6:00 AM and 7:30 AM. Bay Six USA (www.baysixusa.com) is the Title Sponsor of the 5K again in 2011. Buses depart race morning from in front of the Municipal Deck on 2nd Street, as well as from in front of the Hilton Hotle. Boats depart from in back of the Hilton Hotel. Note: If you park in the deck or lot across the street from the Hilton you WILL get a ticket. SPECTATORS CANNOT take the river taxi or trolley on Race Day until after 8:00 am.
