The 9th Annual ‘Link 4 Life’ Run to Prevent Suicide is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Old Cowtown Museum. The morning will begin with the Open 5K Run, followed by a Youth Competitive One mile (18 and under) with start and finish Chip timing. These events will run through the beautiful paths on the Arkansas River. Non competitive youth events will take place outside of Old Cowtown Museum . A One mile Family Walk - Survivors Walk (non competitive any age may register for this event) and run events ranging from 3/4 mile to 50 yard distances for youth 3 to 13 years of age. Fees: 5K: $25 in advance, $35 day of race Youth Competitive One Mile: $15 in advance, $25 day of race Non Competitive Youth Events: $10 in advance, $15 day of race Family Walk: Adults: $20 in advance, $25 day of race, Youth: $10 in advance, $15 day of race. $10 charge for each additional event Limit one T-shirt per participant regardless of multiple event participation. Following your child’s race, children ages 3 through 8 must be picked up by parent or guardian at the fenced-in “Kids Corral” located near the finish line. Following the ‘Link 4 Life’ run/walk events, stick around for the “Celebration Party” to include food, music, exhibits and an award ceremony. Your race number is your entry to the party also take time to enjoy Old Cowtown Museum. Participation medals will be given out to all registered participants. In the Open 5K, awards will be given to the top 3 males and females in 5 year age groups from 19 and under to 70 and over. In the Youth Competitive One Mile, awards will be given to the top 3 males and females in the following age groups: 16-18 years; 13-15 years; 11-12 years; 9-10 years; 7-8 years; 6 years and under. The ‘Link 4 Life’ Run is hosted by the Sedgwick County Suicide Prevention Coalition and recognizes this event as an opportunity to provide awareness about suicide and suicide prevention.
