Brief Description

The DuPage County Human Race is a 5k run/2mile walk and fundraiser for non-profit organizations that serve DuPage County and do not host their own Race. It will take place April 21, 2012. Sign up and raise money for a charity of your choice. Or just participate in the event and designate an organization to receive the donation of your registration fee.

The Human Race is a fundraising event for area non-profits. The non-profit you choose to support will have created a fundraising team. Click on http://www.active.com/donate/dupagehumanrace to find your charity's team and then create your own fundraising page to support the cause!

Mail-in Registration

Mail-in registration forms along with other information are available at www.dupagehumanrace.org. Mail- in registration is $30 through April 15, 2012. Race Day registration is $35.

The Course

Please note that the USATF sanctioned course is a gravel trail which is part of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. As such, it cannot be closed to the community and you may encounter walkers/runners who are not part of the Human Race. The Run/Walk will both begin and end in the same location, just west of the Forest Preserve Distict Headquarters. Walkers will line up behind runners and pets are allowed on the Fitness Walk segment. No retractable leashes, please.

Parking

Please allow extra time for parking as the Race will begin promptly at 9 on the west side of Naperville Road behind the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County Headquarters building. Parking is available at Navistar in their west lot. Enter off Naperville Road on Navistar Drive. A shuttle will run from the Navistar lot to the Forest Preserve lot from 6:45-11:30 a.m. The shuttle cannot transport pets.

Timing for the 5K

Those who register for the 5K will be chip timed and will be eligible for awards. Participants in the 2 Mile Fitness Walk will not be timed.

Awards

Awards will be given to the overall first place male and female and to the top three males and females in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and above.

T-Shirts

The first 750 registered Run/Walk participants will receive a running shirt.

Race Packet Pick Up

Registered runners/walkers can pick up their packets (including race shirt and bib)at Whole Foods Market in Wheaton on Thursday, April 19 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. or Friday, April 20 from 9:00-noon. Packets will also be available for pick-up on the morning of the Race at the registration tent at the Forest Preserve District on the west side of Naperville Road behind the Headquarters building.

Additional Information

Cash prizes will be awarded to organizations in accordance with the following guidelines:
* $500 to the top fundraising organization
*$250 to the top fundraising individual’s choice organization
*$150 to the organization with the most fundraisers
*$100 to the organization with the most race participants
