Susan McDaniel

The Run for Love, first established in 1996, was dedicated in Susan's memory in 2005. Susan was a student at Lovelane during her 2-year battle with cancer. Everyone who was fortunate enough to know Susan will always remember her warm smile, courage and the joy she found in riding at Lovelane. The proceeds from the Run for Love are used to support our core therapeutic riding program and sustain Lovelane's tuition assistance program which assists approximately 60% of families participating in Lovelane's individualized therapeutic riding lessons.

Lovelane Special Needs Horseback Riding Program

Lovelane currently provides more than 4,400 individualized lessons per year to over 100 students, between the ages of 2 and 20 years old from 36 Greater Boston communities. By combining occupational, physical and speech therapies with the fun and challenge of riding a horse, Lovelane enables students to develop better balance, muscle tone, speech, perception as well as improving confidence and self esteem. Lovelane's student population includes children with autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, cancer, hearing and vision impairment, spinal cord and brain injuries and genetic disorders. Lovelane uses 12 specially-trained horses and employs 11 licensed therapuetic riding instructors. We also rely on 130 volunteers to assist us with lessons, barn care and fundraising.
