Brief Description

The Second Annual FIRST AMENDMENT 5k celebrates the rights protected by the First Amendment (speech, press, religion, assembly, petition) and raises funds to support the award-winning students newspaper of Mercer County Community College, The College VOICE. Funds will be used for education and training of student reporters and for equipment for the newsroom.

Additional Information

The race features a fast flat course through shady, wooded community college campus. Professional timing provided. In addition to water stops on the race route there will also be signs containing First Amendment information and trivia. Ever wanted to know what the "Seven Dirty Words" you can't say on television are? Want to know which Supreme Court case held that the FCC could regulate "indecent" speech? At the end of this race, you'll know! Post-race refreshments include Raw REV products, bagels and much more. There will be a DJ to keep you grooving. T-shirts are available to all pre-registrants and day of registrants while supplies last. Prizes are given to top finishers in six age categories. Prizes are also awarded for: Best Depiction of a First Amendment Right, and Most Expressive Outfit.
