On Sunday, October 23, 2011, the Wellington Runners Club presents the 5th Annual Wellington Horse Country 10 Miler and Sebastian's 5K Walk/Run to benefit the Kids Cancer Foundation. The race will run through Wellington's scenic equestrian and aeronautical communities. It promises to be an event of exciting competition as well as some good old family fun.
All proceeds go to the Kids Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity, whose mission is to provide hope and support to local kids and their families battling cancer and/or serious blood disorders.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, life changes. Chemotherapy, doctor and hospital visits soon consume their lives and the effect on the entire family is dramatic. Doctors and nurses provide medical care but families need more to get through this stressful and terrifying time.
The Kids Cancer Foundation provides the comprehensive and supportive assistance families need. They educate the families about their child’s diagnosis and treatment and provide the physical, emotional and financial support that the children and families need throughout this difficult journey.
The Kids Cancer Foundation has the dedication, knowledge and resources to advocate for the children and their families throughout treatment and beyond. They work collaboratively with the medical team and coordinate local, state and national services to ensure that the needs of the patients and families are met. This coordination of education and support is critical as it has been shown to increase both a child’s quality of life and chance of survival.
This year our goal is to raise $75,000 to help fund the new Kids Cancer Center located on the campus of Palms West Hospital in Palm Beach County. The Kids Cancer Center allows the Foundation to better provide and expand their supportive care services. Approximately $400,000 will be needed annually to operate the Kids Cancer Center. This revenue will come from individuals, corporate partnerships, grants and fundraising efforts like the Wellington Horse Country 10 Miler and Sebastian's 5K Walk/Run.

Create a team and work together to help our little warriors! Its fun and a great way to build camaraderie within your company, club or school! Teams allow you to share the effort in reaching your goal, display your commitment to volunteerism and allows each team member to give back to their community!
1. Select a team captain.(Team should be at least 5 members)
2. Create a team fundraising page so that each member can see the teams progress.
3. Set a team fundraising goal.
4. Create fun competitions within your team to encourage one another.
5. Have FUN while you make a difference!
