About Colon Cancer

Colorectal cancer, otherwise known as colon cancer, is the second-leading cause of U.S. cancer deaths for men and women combined. Colorectal cancer affects people of all men and women of all ethnic backgrounds equally. Every year, nearly 150,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with the disease, and nearly 60,000 die. This doesn’t have to happen.

Form a Fundraising TEAM to fight colon cancer

Here is a great way for you to raise funds for Chris4Life and colon cancer awareness with your network of family, friends, business contacts, and loved ones. Make a difference at Chris4Life Fundraising Page

Chris4Life Mission

The goal of Chris4Life Colon Cancer Foundation is to eliminate the threat of colon cancer through discovery of a cure. As long as people are dying from this disease, we will be at the front lines of the fight. We will fund cutting edge research so that the brightest minds are empowered to cure colon cancer for good. Chris4Life Colon Cancer Foundation is committed to significantly improving the treatment experience for patients and caregivers, and to raise awareness about colon cancer.

What Can I Do?

Get screened. When caught early, colorectal cancer is curable 90% of the time. Many of the nearly 60,000 annual deaths from colorectal cancer can be prevented by getting a colonoscopy at 50 or earlier with a family history. A colonoscopy is a test which can be used to detect growths or polyps in the colon and rectum and remove them before they ever develop into cancer. The earlier colorectal cancer is detected, the more curable it is.

Picking Up for your Friends, Relatives/Co-workers

ChronoTrack Timing and Scoring

Transponder timing operated by Capital Running Company will be used to score the 3.1 mile race. The system uses a computer "tag" which must be tied to each runners' shoelaces and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line and the finish line, resulting in a net time for each runner. The D-tag is disposable. Overall awards will be based upon clock time and age group & team awards will be based upon transponder times.

Metro Options

Metro opens at 7 am so you should have plenty of time to get to the race, register, or pick up your packet. Take the Red Line to Metro Center (two blocks from freedom Plaza) or the Blue/Orange Lines to Federal Triangle (one block from Freedom Plaza. Check wmata.com schedules for details.
