Brief Description

Every day, law enforcement officers put their lives on the line for our safety and protection. Organized by the DC Fraternal Order of Police, this 5K “Race to Remember” is a chance to show your appreciation for the service and sacrifice of law enforcement – and enjoy a running course that takes you past some of the pillars of democracy in the Nation’s Capital.

Sign Up for a 5K Interactive Training Program

The Law Enforcement 5K has teamed up with ActiveTrainer coaches to provide training plans specifically for this race. These plans are designed for athletes of ALL levels, from the first-timer all the way up to the most experienced athlete. Included with your training plan is an online calendar, reporting tools, training calculators, maps, daily emails, and much more!

Age Groups and Awards

A variety of prizes, including unique law enforcement-related merchandise, will be awarded to the top three men’s and women’s runners overall, as well as the top two runners (men and women) in standard 10-year age categories.

Co-ed Team Competition

Form a team of up to ten runners and compete in the Co-Ed category. The first four runners score with a minimum of one man and one woman in the first four. The top placing team members will receive gift certificates and unique law enforcement-related merchandise.

ChronoTrack Timing and Scoring

Transponder timing operated by Capital Running Company will be used to score the 5K race. The system uses a computer "tag" which must be tied to each runners' shoelaces and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line and the finish line, resulting in a net time for each runner. The D-tag is disposable. Overall awards will be based upon clock time and age group awards will be based upon transponder times

Packet Pick up and Late Registration

Register in person or pick up your t-shirt, bib, ChronoTrack D-Tag, and goodie bag on Friday, October 15, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Fraternal Order of Police DC Lodge #1 (711 4th Street, NW, Washington, DC, 202-408-7767). Late registration and packet pick-up will be available on Saturday, October 16, from 12 noon to 4:00 pm at the FOP DC Lodge.

Race Day Registration & Packet Pick-up

On race day, you may register and pick up your t-shirt, bib, ChronoTrack D-tag, and goodie bag, at the National Law Enforcement Memorial, from 8 am to 9:45 am. It is recommended that you pick up your bib, t-shirt, and ChronoTrack D-tag on Friday or Saturday to avoid the lines on Sunday.

Picking Up for Your Friends and Family

We do allow runners to pick up bibs and t-shirts for their friends. Please note that t-shirts cannot be mailed. You will not need to show us your ID or copies of their ID to pick up for them.

Staging Area

Starting at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC’s historic Judiciary Square, runners will race the streets of our Nation’s Capital, passing some of our country’s most recognizable and cherished landmarks, including the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the National Mall and various Smithsonian institutions.

The Course

A new course is being developed that will pass the landmarks of the City.
