On Saturday, February 6th, 2010 from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Mt. SAC Cross Country Course, the Mt. San Antonio College foundation will be hosting its 1st Annual Shar Anderson Memorial 5K Trail Run/Walk. Shar Anderson was a very dedicated and inspirational member of the Foothill Flyers and the Inland Inferno Triathlon clubs for many years. Along with being a dedicated endurance athlete with numerous races including 100 trail runs and Ironman Triathlons, she was an active member in her church for many years and a math professor at Mt. San Antonio College.

Shar passed away from cancer a couple of years ago, and to honor her, a scholarship at Mt. San Antonio College was created in her name to be awarded yearly to students who emulate her adventurous spirit, positive attitude, her desire to learn and her zest for life. In order to raise funds for the scholarship, some friends of Shar and the Mt. San Antonio College Foundation came up with the idea of holding a 5k Cross Country race on the college’s cross country course. Proceeds will go towards funding the scholarship in Shar’s name.
