Runners To Hit the Streets of Uptown
On Saturday, June 5, runners will fill the streets of Uptown Wadesboro for the inaugural Summer Jam 5K Run/Walk. The event has two purposes; to bring people into Uptown Wadesboro, and to expose people to running. Even if you are not a running pro, you can still participate in the event. On March 25, a Running/Walking 101 Class will be held at the Little Theatre, located in the bottom of the Hampton B. Allen Library in Wadesboro, at 6pm. The owner of Vac and Dash in Albemarle, NC will be hosting this free seminar. Anybody who attends the seminar and registers for the race before or on that day will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of new running shoes. As an added incentive to register early, runners who register by May 25 will get a free race t-shirt. Race registration fee is $15, however if you wait until the day of the race the registration fee increases to $25. To register for the race, you can pick up a race brochure at HW Little Hardware in Uptown Wadesboro or register online at www.active.com. If you have questions, please call Carly at 704-694-2213.
The Uptown Wadesboro Summer Jam 5K Race/Walk is sponsored by Uptown Wadesboro, Inc. Uptown Wadesboro, Inc. (UWI) is a non-profit organization, currently an all-volunteer group, dedicated to improving the business climate and appearance of the Uptown Wadesboro business district.
