Brief Description

The Sweat Equity Challenge is Victoria’s all day athletic event for everyone in our community- regardless of age or athletic ability! Featuring over 20 athletic Challenges to encourage community participation AND raise community awareness of the term Sweat Equity- the hours each Habitat Homeowner and their family members spend building homes in our community.

10K Competitive Run - 7:30am

A certified and sanctioned course for the competitive athlete. Times will be kept manually.

5K Run - 7:30am

The 5k Run is for the runners who wish to achieve either competitive or personal best times. The 5K event will be conducted on a sanctioned course and times will be kept manually.

5K Fun Walk - 7:45am

Got babies? How about dogs? This is a fun walk for everyone! Let your imagination go wild as costumes and regalia are encouraged! Get your money's worth out of your Halloween costume and wear it to the 5K Fun Walk.

Kids K - 8:45am

A fun run for the young ones! Come out and show your school spirit and support Habitat! Kids wear your school T-shirts! For 1st-5th grades only.

Adventure Race - 9:30am

Our adventure race is set for two person teams to ride 15 miles, run 6 miles, plus a few extra mystery events. The teams are responsible for navigating together through a course using a map and clues to travel through checkpoints. At each checkpoint a word will be written down on the map to prove completion. A transition area will be set up by each team to change different modes of travel, restock food, water, change clothes, etc. The first team to finish all the checkpoints in order wins!

Archery-9am-2pm

Take your best shot! Whether amateur or expert come shoot for fun!

Children's Decathlon - 9am-2pm

Children ages 8 to 14 will be able to participate in the Sweat Equity Challenge version of a Decathlon. The 10-event decathlon is not competitive, but allows children an opportunity to perform and record their athletic results. 1. 20 yard dash 2. Long jump ' 3. Shot put (water balloon toss) 4. Jump rope (30 seconds) # of jumps 5. 50 yard dash 6. Crab walk backwards 10 yards 7. Frisbee throw 8. 20 yard shuttle run 9. Soft ball throw 10. 100 yard dash

Lion's Club Children's Fishing Tournament- 9am-2pm

Kids- bring your family to the DUCK POND and join us for some fishing fun! Rod, reel, bait and fish- everything is provided, FREE for kids ages 1-17. We’ll even filet your catch and put it on ice! 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Registration is not required.

Couch Potato Race - 10am

A bold and daring individual will be positioned on a couch mounted on rollers and armed with a beverage and a remote control. This daredevil will then be propelled by his or her 3 teammates on an approximately ¼ mile long course requiring crossing and maneuvering (and possible collisions.) PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

Disc Golf - 9am & 2pm

What a combination! Frisbees + Golf = Loads of Fun! The SEC Disc Golf Challenge will be 18 holes of partner play consisting of two rounds, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Disc golf is just like traditional golf in that low score wins, and the best three scorers at the SEC will receive trophies.

Washer Toss Tournament - 11am

Come out and play a game of "Texas Horseshoes!"

Obstacle Course-8-10am (8-17), 10-2pm (18& up)

Participating victims will endeavor to complete a military style obstacle course. The course is approximately 2 miles in distance with a mud pit at the end. All victims will be constantly monitored (possibly harassed) by our local military recruiters, regional reserve units, and future service members. Just like basic training only TOUGHER!

Kayak Event - 9am-2pm

Brave the mighty Guadalupe River in your kayak! You set the time that you think you can paddle the 4.2 mile Guadalupe trek through Riverside Park! The top three teams with the closest time to their guess wins! Must wear PFD, under 16 must be accompanied by adult.

Softball Tournament - High and Low Divisions -8am

The event will be single elimination. This format will allow teams to play full games. Bring your best, and bring your best to help cheer you on!!! Teams will have to provide their own uniforms and we encourage funky costumes if you can swing it! PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

Softball Tournament-Coed High & Low Divisions-10am

The coed event will be single elimination. This format will allow teams of men and women to play full games. Bring your best, and bring your best to help cheer you on!!! Teams will have to provide their own uniforms and we encourage funky costumes if you can swing it! PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

Volleyball Tournament - 9am

Come watch the sand fly in the outdoor courts as our athletes sacrifice their bodies while digging for the ball. The tournament is scheduled to be pool play.

Zoom At The Zoo - 9am-3pm

Ages 4-8 years of age. Free to Zoo Members and their families, free to Kids with Adult Non-Member ticket which is $ 5.00. Pre- registration is not required. Participants will receive a fun zoo themed prize after competing in each event. Online registration not available - Pay at The Texas Zoo.

Kickball Tournament - 9am

Support Habitat while having a kickin' good time! There will be a Coed High and Coed Low division.

Dodgeball Tournament -9am

Reignite a childhood game for a good cause!

Kid's Dodgeball Tournament -(1st -5th grade) -9am

Who's school will rule at this ultimate game of all recess games! Wear your school T-shirt!

Cook Off! - 7am

Calling all cooks! Show your skills at the grills while supporting Habitat! Who will have the best fajitas, ribs, beans, pies, and cobbler?

Additional Information

Sweat Equity Challenge is RAIN or SHINE. Water and Aid stations will be available to all registered athletes. A variety of food vendors will be also be present for all to enjoy for a small fee.
