Additional Information
The Course:
The ORRC Vernonia Half Marathon begins in Anderson Park in Vernonia and
proceeds directly to the Vernonia-Banks State Trail. The course runs along the
Vernonia Banks State Trail--paved and gravel trails through scenic woods on an
abandoned railroad bed, finishing in Stub Stewart State Park. The course is
generally flat with only two hills (120 feet downhill, then back uphill) at the
burned out trestle near mile 8. The trail crosses several roads, but is
otherwise closed to traffic. Aid stations and traffic control will be provided. The race is point to point.
Participants will put a change of clothes in bags that will be available at the
finish area. Participants will be bussed from the finish back to Vernonia for
the awards ceremony. The course closes at 12:30pm and the last bus leaves the finish area at 1:00pm For a map of the trail and directions, go to
