Welcome

WELCOME to the 4th Annual SUNRISE RUN featuring a Half Marathon, 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk and Kids Runs. The Half Marathon and 10K courses share a unique point-to-point scenic route with gently rolling terrain through rural Pleasants Valley. The Half Marathon, 10K and 5K courses traverse historic Buck Avenue in Vacaville, finishing at Vacaville High School's Tom Zunino Stadium where friends, family and festivities await (and where the Kids Runs will be held).

Purpose

Vacaville Sunrise Rotary (VSR) and Neurofibromatosis California (NFC) are hosting the Sunrise Run to raise awareness and funds for NFC and for VSR's various community commitments, which include Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club, Camp Royal, CASA, the Children’s Nurturing Project, Tickled Pink Quilt for the Cure, Vacaville High School Quarterback Club, the Vacaville Police Activities League, the Solano County Library Foundation, and many more…

Distance

Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, 1/4 mile and 100 yd Kids Runs.

Start Locations

The Half Marathon start is located at Lake Solano Park approximately 1/4 Mile east of the main gate on the park road near the juncture of Pleasants Valley Road and State Highway 128.  The 10K start is located on Pleasants Valley Road at the intersection of Brehme Lane, which is approximately the 7 mile mark of the half marathon course. The 5K starts at VHS and the Kids Runs are held at VHS.

Start Time

The Half Marathon will start at 7:00 am; the 10K at 7:30 am; the 5K Run/Walk at 8:00 am; the Kids Run (Ages 7 and under) at 9:30 am and the Kids Run (Ages 8 -12) at 9:45 am.

Fees*

Half Marathon: By 4/17 $45, By 5/17 $55 10K: By 4/17 $35, By 5/17 $45 5K: By 4/17 $25, By 5/17 $35 Kids Run (Ages 8 - 12): By 4/17 $10, By 5/17 $15 Kids Run (Ages 7 and under): Free There will be no race day registration for the Half Marathon and 10K. Onsite registration available for the 5K and Kids Runs only for an additional $5 fee. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. * A small processing fee will be charged when using Active.com.

Registration Deadlines

Last date to register online is May 17th at 11:59 pm.  All participants can register in person until 6:30 pm on May 18th at Fleet Feet Sports in Vacaville (located at 354 Merchant Street). 5K and Kids Run participants can also register onsite the day of the event from 6:00 am - 7:45 am (for 5K participants) and from 6:00 am - 9:15 am (for Kids Run participants).

Technical T-Shirts and Event T-Shirts

Technical T-Shirts provided to registered Half Marathon and 10K participants. Event cotton T-Shirts for all other participants with paid registration by May 17, 2012 ($10 charge for cotton T-Shirts for the 7 and under Kids Run participants). Technical T-Shirts available for an additional $10 charge with paid registration by May 17, 2012 ($20 charge for 7 and under Kids Run participants).

Age Divisions

Half Marathon, 10K and 5K: 15 and under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ 1/4 Mile Kids Run: Ages 8 - 12 100 Yd Kids Run: Ages 7 and under

Awards

All Half Marathon finishers will receive unique medals. The overall top male and female runners in the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K will be awarded $200, $100 and $50 each, respectively, to be donated in their name to the local charity or organization of their choice. The top three finishers of each age group for the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K and kids runs will receive medals. All Kids Runs participants will receive ribbons.

Transportation

Half Marathon and 10K participants will be bussed to the start line of their respective runs. Bus trips originate at VHS. Limited pay parking is available at Lake Solano Park and runners use that at their discretion. No parking is available at the 10K start and there is no after race bus transportation. Bus start times and assignments will be published on our web site by May 1st. It is expected that the last Half Marathon bus will leave VHS by 5:45 am and the last 10K bus by 6:15 am.

Packet Pickup Information

Packet pickup will be available Friday, May 18th at Fleet Feet Sports, 354 Merchant Street, Vacaville (707-449-9266) from noon - 6:30 pm. Race day pickup available from 4:45 am - 9:15 am at the VHS stadium. Registration closes 15 minutes before the start of the 5K and Kids Runs. Race numbers must be worn by all race participants in a visible location on the front torso area.

Sweat Pick Up

Sweats placed in registration packet bags may be left at the half marathon and 10K start lines and will be transported to the finish line, where they can be picked up by the runner.

Half Marathon Course Time Limits

To ensure that roads reopen to vehicle traffic at the scheduled times, we have a half marathon course time limit of 3 hours and 15 minutes (approx 15 minute/mile average). Participants must maintain a pace faster than the course time limit. If the participant cannot reach the mile 8 aid station point by 9:05 am, they must exit the course and board the “sag wagon” shuttle or make arrangements for pick up from that location.

Chip Timing

Official chip timing will be provided for the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K participants by A Change of Pace. The timing chip is clipped to the bibs, so please be sure your bib number is prominently visible (front-facing) in order for your time to register at the finish line.

Directions

From I-80 East take the Peabody Rd exit, make a left onto Elmira Rd. (which becomes Mason Street), right onto Depot St., left onto Monte Vista and about one mile to VHS (on the right). From I-80 West take the Mason St. exit and continue straight through the signal onto Depot Street, take a left onto Monte Vista and about one mile to VHS (oon the right).

Parking

Parking is available at Vacaville High School, on frontage streets, and in downtown Vacaville (approximately a 3 to 4 block walk). Pay parking is available at Lake Solano Park, however it is limited and runners are encouraged to park at or near VHS and use bus transportation to the start line. There is no after race bus transportation.
