About the race

The race will begin and end at Meadowbrook Park near the pavilion by the Organic Gardens (entrance off Race Street). The 5K run/5K walk makes one and a half laps around Meadowbrook Park. The 10K run heads south on the Race Street into the Yankee Ridge subdivision before returning to and circling Meadowbrook Park. All races end in a short trail run. Packet Pick-up

Race packets may be picked-up from noon-5 pm Saturday, Nov. 3rd at Body n’ Sole, 1317 Dunlap, Savoy (northwest corner of Rt. 45 South and Curtis Rd.); (217) 356-8926 Packets will also be available at the Race Street Pavilion on race day from 8-8:45 a.m.

Awards and Post-race Activities

Awards will be given to the top three male and female participants in each run category, walk awards are co-ed. Post race activities include a raffle, refreshments, and an informal display representing environmental activities and volunteer opportunities in the area. Awards will be presented by the pavilion near the finish line.

Grand Prairie Friends is a nonprofit organization composed of people from many walks of life who share a commitment to preserving and restoring tallgrass prairie and woodlands in east-central Illinois. We acquire and manage prairie and woodland remnants, conduct prescribed burns, propagate and plant indigenous prairie and woodland species in reconstructions, and generate interest in prairies and woodlands through a variety of educational programs.
