What is BEYOND?

The events of January 8, 2011 shook our community, affecting each of us deeply. It was a horrible day. But in the days and months afterward, our community came together in a way it never had before. We supported each other, leaned on each other, and generally looked out for one another. BEYOND is a community-wide event to commemorate the anniversary of January 8th, celebrate the spirit of togetherness, and re-commit ourselves to working together to build a stronger community every day.

What's Happening At Saguaro West?

As part of this commemorative effort, SAR is hosting a free running and walking event at Saguaro National Park West, in partnership with the National Park Service. The National Park Service and the Southern Arizona Roadrunners will team up for a free, non-competitive five-mile social run on the roads of Saguaro National Park West. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited – but, please, no wheeled vehicles and no pets.

What's Happening at Sabino Canyon?

Activities include a series of guided runs/hikes/walks and nature programs designed to enhance enjoyment of the outdoors. The Southern Arizona Roadrunners will kick off the day’s events with a moment of silence at 7:00 a.m. followed by a series of non-competitive runs in the canyon. A one mile run will be an option for children. Adults may participate in a two mile or four mile run, or run the entire canyon. Information for the fun runs can be found at www.azroadrunners.org.

Saguaro - Free and Untimed

The course will include rolling dirt roads, a bit of pavement, and plenty of gorgeous National Park scenery. The run will not be timed and there is no fee, but participants must register. Due to parking and trail usage concerns, this free event is limited to 400 participants. Start time: 8:30 am

Sabino Details

7:00 - 8:30 a.m. Southern Arizona Roadrunners-hosted canyon runs - 2, 4 or 7.4 miles. Youth run at 8:00 a.m.Paved road only. Free and untimed. Lots of great activities all day at Sabino Canyon.
